Huangyaguan Great Wall stretches from Malanguan in Zunhua, Hebei Province to Jiangjunguan in Pinggu, Beijing, totaling 42 kilometers. It has 66 towers, 52 watchtowers, and 14 beacon towers. The rocks on the eastern cliff are mostly yellow-brown and appear golden yellow when the sun sets. Therefore, Huangyaguan Great Wall is famous for the "Wan Zhao Huang Ya".

The Main Attractions of the Huangyaguan Great Wall

To the west of Huangyaguan Great Wall is Wangmaoding Mountain, which serves as the mountainous section of the Great Wall for visitors to explore. To the east is Taipingzhai, where an attractive square watchtower known as the Widow Tower stands.

Taipingzhai

Taipingzhai is located in Xiaoping'an Village to the southeast of Huangyaguan, with an altitude of about 400 meters. It is an important defensive pass on the eastern side of Huangyaguan. There stands a statue of General Qi Jiguang, a border guard during the Ming Dynasty, which is a memorial to him.

Widow Tower

In the past, the Widow Tower was funded and built by 12 women. The tower stands 13 meters tall, with dragon heads decorated on the small house on the tower and pottery unicorns, phoenixes, and lions on the eaves.

Wangmaoding Mountain

Wangmaoding Mountain got its name because its shape resembles Guan worn by feudal officers in ancient China. The mountain is lush with trees and has a steep terrain.

Great Wall Museum

Tianjin Huangyaguan Great Wall Museum is China's first museum dedicated to the Great Wall. The museum exhibits materials related to the Great Wall of China and the Jizhou section of the Great Wall, as well as weapons and daily necessities used by General Qi Jiguang and his soldiers in the past.

Highlights of the Huangyaguan Great Wall

Eight Trigrams Maze is a meticulously designed attraction that cleverly uses low walls to divide hundreds of winding paths, forming a maze shape resembling the traditional Chinese Eight Trigrams diagram. The layout inside the maze is complex and ever-changing, with each path intersecting and twisting, making it easy for people to lose their way once they enter, experiencing a unique sense of adventure.

This maze offers high entertainment value and carries rich historical and cultural significance. It is an excellent destination for tourists to learn about ancient Chinese military defense systems and traditional culture.

Marathon on Huangyaguan Great Wall

The marathon is held annually on the third Saturday of May at the Huangyaguan Great Wall. Due to the extreme nature of the course conditions, it is considered one of the most challenging marathon races. During the race, participants traverse sections of the Great Wall that are mostly unrestored and in ruins, requiring excellent physical fitness and endurance from the competitors.

How to Get to Huanguaguan Great Wall

1. Starting from Beijing

Taxi: It takes 2 hours and 30 minutes to get from Tiananmen Square to Huangyaguan Great Wall by taxi, costing CNY400.

Train + Taxi: take a high-speed train or normal-speed train from Beijing Station to Jizhou Railway Station, which takes about 1 hour and costs CNY14-18. Then take a taxi from Jizhou Railway Station to the Great Wall, which takes 1 hour and costs CNY160.

2. Starting from Tianjin

Taxi: It takes 2 hours and 30 minutes to get from Tianjin Station to Huanghuacheng Great Wall by taxi, costing CNY400.

Train + Taxi: take a train from Tianjin Station to Jizhou North Railway Station, which takes 2 hours and costs CNY18.5. Then take a taxi from Jizhou North Railway Station to the Great Wall, which takes 1 hour and costs CNY130.

3. Private Transfer
