From east to west, it stretches across 2 municipalities and 13 provinces, namely Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Jilin, Heilongjiang, Shandong, Henan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, and Xinjiang.

Great Wall in Beijing

Although the Great Wall located in Beijing is well-known to everyone, it is mainly distributed in the suburbs. There are six sections of the Great Wall in Beijing. The Badaling Great Wall is the first section open to tourists and also the most famous one. The Mutianyu Great Wall has the highest vegetation coverage.

Badaling Great Wall Tour Map

Route 1: North 1 - North 4 - Bear Park (Take the slide way at North 4 directly to the Bear Park)

Route 2: Badaling Great Wall Railway Station - North 8 - North 11 (Take the cable car near the Badaling Great Wall Station to North 8, which is the steepest section of the Badaling Great Wall)

Route 3: Business Street - South 4 - South 1 (Take the ground cable car from the Business Street to South 4)

Mutianyu Great Wall Tour Map

Route 1: North Entrance - Watchtower 14 - Watchtower 20 (Take the cable car from the North Entrance to Watchtower 14)

Route 2: South Entrance - Watchtower 6 - Watchtower 14 (Take the chairlift from the South Entrance to Watchtower 6 or walk the South Walking Path)

Route 3: South Entrance - Watchtower 6 - Watchtower 1 (Take the chairlift from the South Entrance to Watchtower 6 or walk the South Walking Path)

Great Wall Hiking Map

Some tourists enjoy hiking along the Great Wall, taking pride in completing the journey on foot. The classic hiking route is from Jiankou to Mutianyu. There is no public transport from Capital Airport and Daxing Airport to the Great Wall. You have to take a bus or subway from the airport to the urban area and then transfer to a bus to the Great Wall.
