DAY 1 Lhasa Arrival, Airport/Train Station Transfers
  • 3-Star Hotel in Lhasa

Arrive in Lhasa by airplane or by train, meet your guide at the designated point, and then transfer to your hotel.

You will spend 3 days in Lhasa for acclimatization.

Good to Know:

1. There are three specified pick-up times from the airport every day: 10 am, 1:30 pm, and 5 pm. Early arrivals need to wait for the scheduled departure, or you can choose to pay an extra fee of CNY 400 for private transfers.

2. Pick up from the train station does not have transfer time limitations.

3. Accommodates is centrally located with many good restaurants and local shops.

DAY 2 Lhasa: Drepung Monastery and Sera Monastery

Today starts the trip from Drepung Monastery, reputed as the largest Tibetan Buddhist temple in the world, boasting exquisite carvings and artwork. Drepung Monastery is also the best place to enjoy the Buddha Unfolding Activity at the Shoton Festival.

In the afternoon, visit the Sera Monastery to observe the interesting monks' daily debate and spend time touring the interior, which is adorned with exquisite statues and carvings.

DAY 3 Lhasa: Potala Palace, Johkang Temple, Barkor Street
  • Breakfast and Welcome Dinner

Pick up from your hotel after breakfast. Today’s trip starts from Potala Place, the iconic site of Lhasa, an immense religious and architectural complex. There are steep steps leading to the front entrance, so slow down your pace to ease altitude sickness.

Continue the trip to Johkang Temple, the most sacred temple in Tibet, housing a life-size statue of Sakyamuni. You can see outside the pilgrims walking in circles around the temple and praying with beads.

Next to the temple, there is Bakhor Street, selling traditional Tibetan souvenirs such as costumes and jewelry.

You will be treated to a welcome dinner at a local restaurant tonight.

Good to Know:

1. For people who have altitude sickness, suggest bringing an oxygen tank and drinking water regularly may ease the symptoms.

2. Visitors are not allowed to take photos inside the Potala Palace.

DAY 4 Lhasa to Gyantse to Shigatse: Yamdrotso Lake, Karola Glacier, Gyantse Kumbum & Pelkor Monastery

Drive for approximately 7 to 8 hours (340 kilometers) to reach Shigatse. Along the way, you will visit two breathtaking natural landscapes – Yamdrok Lake and the Karola Glacier. You will enjoy a scenic 20-kilometer drive following the disappearing shoreline of the Lake.

We will stop at a village by the lake, where you can walk into the homes of lakeside farmers, explore their households, and indulge in a delightful farmhouse lunch.

After lunch, drive for approximately 1 hour to visit one of Tibet's most beautiful glaciers – the Karola Glacier, the enormous glacier tongue extends to the roadside, resembling a frozen waterfall hanging over the road and above your head.

Following the Karola Glacier, we will pass by Lake Manla and the ancient town of Gyantse, proceed to Shigatse, the second-largest city in Tibet.  

DAY 5 Shigatse – Tingri – Everest Base Camp:Gyawula Viewing Point, Everest Base Camp
  • Stay one night in the tent

After breakfast, we will start a 6.5-hour drive (330 kilometers) to the top of the world – Mount Everest. Along the way, you will visit several viewpoints where you can catch glimpses of Everest. 

Departing from Shigatse, you'll be accompanied by rural farmland and villages. Approximately 4 hours into the journey, you'll approach Dingri County, where you'll have your first view of Everest from the Dingri Viewpoint.

Upon entering the Everest scenic area, you'll be treated to breathtaking panoramic views of the Himalayan range from Gawula Pass.

Next, you'll proceed on the dedicated road leading to Everest, with the mountain growing larger and closer until you reach the northern face base camp. From the base camp, Everest appears like a colossal pyramid standing before you.

We will strive to arrive at Everest Base Camp before sunset, allowing you the opportunity to witness the magnificent natural phenomenon of the sunset casting golden hues upon the mountain. 

Note: During the winter season, when the Everest Base Camp tented lodges are closed, we will relocate accommodations to the nearest village to Everest, Basong Village or Zhaxizong Village.

DAY 6 Everest Base Camp, Rongbuk Monastery, Rongbuk to Shigatse

  • Breakfast, Dinner with Song and Dance Performance

Taking a stroll near the base camp to savor the beautiful moments of the early morning.

After breakfast, the guide will take you to visit Rongbuk Monastery, the world's highest-altitude monastery, famous for being the location where the sea waves engulfed the last piece of land in the movie "2012." It is also an excellent vantage point for capturing the natural and cultural landscapes of Mount Everest.

We will drive you to the Xilin View point to admire the breathtaking views of the eastern slope of Everest, and Mt. Lhotse, and pass through the ancient town of Sakya before returning to Shigatse.

Upon arriving in Shigatse in the evening, the guide will invite you to share a traditional Tibetan dinner, celebrating the successful completion of the Everest journey. You will have the opportunity to taste local traditional delicacies while enjoying the distinctive folk songs and dances of Shigatse. 

DAY 7 Shigatse to Lhasa: Tashilunpo Monastery, River View of Brahmaputra

After breakfast, explore the Tashilunpo Monastery of the Gelug Sect, a calm and quiet monastery with comparably fewer tourists than in Lhasa.

In the afternoon, we will drive back to Lhasa, which will take around 6 hours. On the way, you will stop for a glimpse of magnificent views of the Yarlung Zangbo Gorge/ Bhamaputra River (the Longest and largest river in Tibet).

DAY 8 Hotel to Airport/Train Station Transfer, Lhasa Departure

Bus transfer to Lhasa Airport or train station, the set departure time to the airport at 6:30 am, 8 am, and 12 pm.
