Tour Itinerary

DAY 1 Entrance City to Lijiang, Lijiang Ancient Town, The Mufu (Wood Mansion), Wangu Tower
  • Lunch

Lijiang Ancient Town: Standing more than 2,400 meters above sea level and perched right in the middle of Lijiang, the Ancient Town is the best place to go if you want to get to know more about the county’s past. Here, the historic culture of China is very much alive and are splendidly set against a beautiful scenery as the backdrop. What is most interesting about this town is that it is one of the most well-preserved minority ancient cities that still stand today. Since this tour will be held in the morning, you can explore the town without the crowd that usually fill it up in the afternoon and evening.

Wood Mansion/The Mufu: The official residence of the ancient ruler of Lijiang, The Mufu’s name is taken from the ruler’s own name – Governor Mu of the Ming dynasty. It is a historical mansion since it housed many meetings between the ruler and his officials. But aside from its history, the Wood Mansion is renowned for being the largest group of buildings in Lijiang and for its unique style, which was copied from that of the Forbidden City. The style thus heavily reflects the Naxi people’s architectural and artistic skills.

Wangu Tower: Considered as a landmark of ancient Lijiang, the Wangu Tower is a building purely made of wood. It stands 108 feet tall, which is about 33 meters, and is perched on top of Lion Hill. Standing at its foot, you will be rewarded with an overlooking view of Lijiang and a majestic sight of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain.
