Shanghai - Hangzhou Bullet Train Types
Between Shanghai and Hangzhou, there are three categories of bullet trains to serve different travel needs and budgets. They are the G, D, and C trains.
G trains, also known as High-Speed Trains, are the fastest in China's rail network, traveling at a speed of up to 350 km/h. The G train journey from Shanghai to Hangzhou generally takes less than an hour.
D trains referred to as Electric Multiple Units (EMU), travel slightly lower than G trains, usually around 250 km/h. A trip between Shanghai and Hangzhou on the D Train typically takes 1 hour.
Known as Commuter Rail or Intercity EMU Trains, C trains operate between adjoining cities. A trip between Shanghai and Hangzhou on a C train usually lasts approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The high-speed train journey between Shanghai and Hangzhou involves various terminals: Shanghai Hongqiao Station, Shanghai South Station, Shanghai Railway Station, Shanghai West Station, Hangzhou Railway Station, Hangzhou East Station, and Hangzhou South Station.

Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station
About 22 km (13 mi) away from the Bund, Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station is close to the Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport - within walking distance. This smart spot makes it smooth for travelers to switch between the railway station and the airport.
