The water rafting in Wangxian Valley is exciting! The entire rafting course is 2.8 kilometers long, with a staggering elevation drop of 185 meters between the highest and lowest points. The river is full of strangely shaped rocks.

While rafting, it feels like you're in a battle, having to dodge and weave to avoid all the obstacles to reach the finish line. The trees on both banks are lush and green, allowing you to fully relax and immerse yourself in nature. When the raft crashes into a rock, the river water splashes up high, soaking you with a cool, refreshing feeling. It's especially awesome to play this in summer!

Handicraft

Locations: Bamboo Weaver's Shop and the Carpentry Workshop.

You'll become Little Luban (a famous, skilled carpenter in Chinese culture). Under the guidance of a professional teacher, you can make a unique wooden handicraft. It could be a spoon, a hammer, or, if you want to challenge yourself, you can try making a wooden gun.

You can also attempt to weave a small basket out of bamboo. Although making it takes time and effort, things made by yourself are truly memorable.

For painting, you need to unleash your imagination and have a keen sense of color.

Han-style Wedding Performance: A couple gets married while wearing splendid Hanfu (traditional Chinese clothing). Accompanied by cheerful music, the groom leads the wedding procession to bring his beloved bride home joyfully. With blessings and witness from everyone present, the two become husband and wife and make vows to stay together for life, showing their deep love.

It starts at 15:00 every day except Monday and lasts for about 30 minutes. The venue is Yangfu Square.

Bonfire Party: When the music starts, a roaring flame shoots up, instantly igniting the atmosphere. Everyone holds hands and dances merrily around the bonfire. Even if you're strangers, you can quickly get closer to each other in this lively setting.

It begins at 20:30 every day and lasts for about 40 minutes. The venue is also Yangfu Square.

What to Eat in Wangxian Valley

There's a food street between the Opera Stage Square and Yanpu Square, where you can taste a variety of snacks:

Dengzhan Guo: A traditional snack in Shangrao. The cake skin, made from steamed rice paste, is filled with mushrooms, diced bamboo shoots, and minced meat, resembling a lamp in shape.

Kudzu Juice: Made by boiling kudzu into a pulp and adding crushed peanuts, sesame seeds, and puffed rice. It's sweet but not cloying, leaving a delightful aftertaste without causing internal heat.

Winter Melon Tea: Prepared by simmering seasonal winter melon with Shangrao Yushan brown sugar for seventy-six hours to create a delicious jar of tea.

Stringy Corn: Corn is stir-fried on an iron plate and then topped with butter, cheese, and seaweed flakes, offering a texture similar to sticky cheese.

Wangxian Tofu: The most delicious tofu in the area, made from ingredients sourced from elevations above 200 meters and ground using natural mineral water.

Taro Dumplings: The dumpling wrappers are a blend of taro paste and sweet potato starch, providing a chewy texture. The filling is ordinary pork, creating a perfect combination of soft taro and savory meat.

Where to Stay in Wangxian Valley

Wangxian Valley is far from the city center. After attending the evening bonfire party, you might not be able to find transportation back to the city area, so staying at a nearby guesthouse would be more convenient. The guesthouses in Wangxian Valley can be divided into three types based on their locations.

Cliffside Guesthouses

• Suitable for: The Young
• Pros: The rooms are on the cliff, offering great views. There are starry sky rooms where you can see the stars on clear nights.
• Cons: You need to climb stairs, which is inconvenient if you have a lot of luggage. They are also expensive.

Mid-hill Guesthouses

• Suitable for: Families with elderly people or children
• Pros: You don't have to climb too many stairs, making it less tiring.
• Cons: The scenery one can see is relatively limited.

Guesthouses Outside the Scenic Area

• Suitable for: The Young
• Pros: They are affordable.
• Cons: They are far from the scenic area, and there's no direct transportation.

How to Get to Wangxian Valley

The nearest railway station to Wangxian Valley is Shangrao Railway Station, and the two places are 50 kilometers apart. If you're coming from another city, you'll need to take a train to Shangrao Railway Station first, and then take public transportation from Shangrao City to the scenic area.

Shangrao to Wangxian Valley

Taking a coach from Shangrao East Bus Station, which is right next to Shangrao Railway Station, to Wangxian Valley takes about 1 hour and costs CNY30.

Shanghai to Wangxian Valley

There are 50 train trips from Shanghai to Shangrao every day. The earliest one departs from Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station at 18:10. and arrives at Shangrao Railway Station at 21:09, with a total travel time of 2 hours and 59 minutes. The second-class seat fare is USD39/CNY275.

Hong Kong to Wangxian Valley

There is no direct train from Hong Kong to Wangxian Valley. You can take a train to Nanchang or Shanghai, and then transfer to another train to Shangrao City. From West Kowloon Railway Station, there's only one train, G100, heading to Nanchang and Shanghai every day.

This train's final destination is Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station, and it will pass by Nanchang East Railway Station. It departs from West Kowloon Railway Station at 11:37, arrives in Nanchang at 15:31, taking a total of 3 hours and 54 minutes. The second-class seat fare is USD80/CNY563. It reaches Shanghai at 19:43, with the second-class seat fare being USD140/CNY989.

There are 70 high-speed trains running from Nanchang to Shangrao every day. The earliest train departs at 7:30, and the latest one leaves at 23:06. The second-class seat fare is USD23/CNY159.

If you want to use the 240-hour visa-free transit in China, you can't take a train from Hong Kong to the Chinese mainland. You can only travel by ferry or plane.
