Rongjiang County

Located southeast Guizhou Province, Rongjiang boasts a beautiful and natural landscape along with multi-ethnic groups like Dong, Miao, Yao, and Shui. There are more than 2,000 old banyan trees in Rongjiang County which make it a nice place for humans back to nature

It covers an area of 3,315 square kilometers with a total population of over 350 thousand. It is a place that full of primitive simplicity and the latest modernity. The traditional songs and dances by locals, buildings, souvenir shops showing the local folk customs perfectly.

Banyan Scenic Area

The scenic area is located in Sanbao Qianhu Dong Ethnic Village, 3 km north Rongjiang County. There are over 1,000 banyan trees with a history of more than 100 years and over 1,200 banyan trees with a history of over 50 years. These banyan trees stand alongside the river. They have planted hundreds of years ago for the purpose of protecting the villages along the river from floods.

Taking a stroll under the tall banyan trees will make travelers feeling like walk into a wonderland.

Husband and Wife Banyan Tree

There are two banyan trees standing left to right in front of an old palace. Although the two trees stand only 4 meters away, their branches and leaves are crossing each other. It looks like a beloved couple can’t touch each other. So people named the two trees “Husband and Wife Banyan Tree”.    

It is said that touch the two trees will bring good luck.

Fengyu Bridge

Fengyu bridge plays an important role there. It facilitates friendship among villages. Nearly every village here has a Fengyu bridge. It is built by locals for the purpose of improving living conditions and protecting the local environment. There are some beautiful sculptures in some Fengyu bridges. It brings together the beauty of nature, architecture, and art.

Local Delicacies

There are some tasty foods like boiled fish pickled Chinese cabbage and chili, sour Chinese cabbage soup, bacon, and broiled fish of Dong style. The food there is tasty and spicy.

Broiled fish of Dong style is one of the most popular dishes among Dong people. Firstly, insert a sharp stick into the mouth of the fish and then insert the stick upon the bonfire. It needs to turn the fish regularly until the skin of the fish becomes a little bit golden. Thirdly, peel off the skin and put the fish into a pot. Take out the fish bones and cut the fish into pieces.

Finally, put peppers, slices of green onion, salt, and shredded gingers together with the fish, and broil the mixed fish upon a bonfire. After about 15 minutes later, the spicy and tasty broiled fish of Dong style is prepared.

How to Get There

Take a bus from Kaili City Bus Station can easily access there, which taking about 5 hours. There are buses that starting from Kaili City every 40 minutes.
