Dali Dong Ethnic Village

Dali Dong ethnic village is located 23 km east of Rongjiang County, Guizhou Province. It is a Dong village with typical Dong architecture like drum towers, wooden houses, and green stone pathways etc. It is a tranquil village for families with children or individuals to experience the Dong Culture.

What’s more, there are five Fengyu bridges with a history of over 200 years, which making the village more different from other Dong ethnic villages.
 

Being a primitive and natural village, Dali is surrounded by ancient forests and bamboo groves. It is easy to find that lifestyle here has changed little over past centuries. There are about 238 households with a total population of more than 1,300.

Folk Customs

Dong people are hospitable and friendly. They often serve guests from outside as their friends. The folk customs here are both fantastic and traditional.

The Welcome Ceremony

The traditional song called Da Ge would be sung by respected old Dong people gathering together.

Da Ge is a unique song that was invented by Dong people. At the same time, there are young boys and girls dancing to the big drumbeats. The unique ritual will make travelers feel at home.

A local ritual named “Lanlujiu” will be held for greeting guests. It is a traditional custom that welcomes guests by inviting them to drink local rice whisky before they come into the village. Drinking the rice whisky means that guests become friends with locals.

Fengyu Bridge

There are many clear brooks running along cottages. The bridge is an important carrier for locals to communicate with others. There are five Fengyu bridges with a history of more than 200 years in the village. All the bridges are well-preserved.

Fengyu bridge also called Fu bridge, which implying it can bring luck to all people. And, it was built as a place for people to keep out wind and rain.

How to Get There

Travelers can take a bus from Rongjiang County Bus Station that starts 6:30 in the morning. Every one hour there will be a bus departing to Dali.
