Luoyang Attractions
Luoyang is both the "Ancient Capital of Thousand Years" and the "Peony Flower City". As the ancient capital of the thirteen dynasties, historical sites and museums are everywhere. Luoyang's attractions are concentrated in the city center. The city has a well-developed traffic. There are buses between different scenic spots, and many of them can also be reached on foot.
The highlights of Longmen Grottoes and White Horse Temple are located in the south and east of the city respectively, and both are about an hour’s drive away. Public transportation is very convenient, and both can go back and forth on the same day.
If you want to experience Luoyang, this ancient city with a long history, the following highlights are not to be missed.
- The Longmen Grottoes and the White Horse Temple are the most popular. The exquisite grottoes and quiet temples bear the unique historical mark of this city.
- If you want to see peonies, you can go to Wangcheng Park, National Peony Garden or the parks around Manshan in the old city. In the National Peony Garden, which boasts of the most varieties at home at present, the best-cultivating skill, and the highest ornamental value, and has been known around the world.
- As a landmark building in the old city of Luoyang, the Lijingmen city wall is worth visiting. The Luoyang Old Street connected to it is very popular with folk customs, suitable for relaxing walks and tasting food.
