Jingyuan Garden
Jingyuan Garden is the former residence of Puyi, the last Emperor of China. It is historic architecture. From 1927 to 1931, the last emperor Puyi, along with Queen Wan Rong and imperial concubine Wenxiu lived here.
Situated at No. 70, Anshan Road, Heping District, the garden is under special protection and Heritage Protection of Tianjin. The garden is the center of CBD with convenient transportation to the whole city. From Tianjin International Airport to Jingyuan Garden takes only 20 minutes drive. From Tianjin Railway Station to Jingyuan Garden takes about 6 minutes drive.
Architecture Style
Jinyuan was built in 1921 with the original name of Qianyuan Manor. Enjoying a history of more than 80 years, Jingyuan is famous for its combination of Chinese and Western architecture styles. The exhibition hall of Aisin Gioro Puyi is in the east flats. After restoration, the hall is named Restored Exhibition Hall of Jingyuan. A Spanish-style, brick wood structure building with 2 layers in the garden is the main building.
Construction
There are 21 rooms in the main building. The rooms all show their original royal style and functions with rich cultural flavor as well as the elegant texture of the furniture. A living room, a dining room, guest rooms, and a kitchen area on the first floor, and bedrooms, a library, and a chamber are on the 2nd floor.
Pu Yi-The Last Emperor of China
Pu Yi (7 February 1906 – 17 October 1967) is short of Aisin-Gioro Puyi. He was the last emperor of China and the 12th and final ruler of the Qing Dynasty. In1908, Pu Yi succeeded to the throne at the age of 2 years and 10 months in December titled the Xuantong Emperor.
3 years later, after the success of the Xinhai Revolution, he abdicated but retained his imperial title. The government of the Republic of China treated him with the protocol attached to a foreign monarch which lasted for few years.
In 1917, he was restored to the throne from July 1 to July 12 by a warlord Zhang Xun. The restoration soon failed because of extensive opposition and other warlords’ invention. After he was expelled from the Forbidden City and moved to some places to live for a while,
Pu Yi moved to Jingyuan in Tianjin in 1927 and move out in 1931. On 1 March 1932, Puyi was used by the Japanese as the ruler of Manchukuo, a puppet imperial state of the Empire of Japan, and ruled until the end of the China and Japan War in 1945.
In 1949, the People’s Republic of China was established. Pu Yi was imprisoned as a war criminal for ten years. After that, he wrote his autobiography, The First Half of My Life From 1964 until his death he worked as an editor for the literary department of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.

- Subway: Take Line 1 to Anshandao Station.
