China Weather in March

Written by Matteo Updated Nov. 21, 2025

March is the first month of spring in China. Spring is also a great time for traveling. At this time, it's still quite cold in the northern regions, while in the southern regions, flowers gradually start to bloom as spring warms up.

Is March a Good Time to Visit China

March marks the beginning of spring in China, but the temperatures have not yet stabilized. If you're traveling to China for a trip, it's still advisable to bring winter clothes.

March is a great time to travel in China. Firstly, it's the low season for tourism then. There aren't many people at major scenic spots, and it's easier to get tickets to popular attractions. For places like the Forbidden City, you might even get lucky and find cheap air tickets.

Secondly, the weather is gradually getting warmer. If you go to southern Chinese cities in late March, you don't need to take too many thick clothes and can travel with ease.
