The Mid-autumn Festival is also called Mooncake Festival. It takes place on the 5th day of the 8th month of the Chinese Lunar calendar.  The Mid-Autumn Festival 2024 falls on Tuesday, Sep. 17. 

The Mid-autumn Festival 2024 holiday is from Sep. 15 to Sep. 17 lasting for 3 days.

During the Festival, people eat mooncakes, watch the moon, and watch lantern shows.

Mid-Autumn Festival Public Holiday 2024

There is usually a 3-day holiday for the Mooncake Festival. (In fact, there is only one day break for the Mid-Autumn Festival, the government usually combines the holiday with a weekend. 

In 2024, the Mid-Autumn holiday is from September 15 to September 17.

During the holiday, shops and markets will open as usual. Office buildings will be closed. There will be crowded in popular tourist attractions.

Holiday in Hong Kong

Yes! But unlike in China Mainland, people will get 1-day off from work on the next day of the festival in Hong Kong.

In 2024, Hong Kong people will celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival on September 18.
