Zhangjaijie in November

Despite its location in the monsoon region of central China, Zhangjiajie has more-or-less seasonal weather. November is a mild weather month.

The temperature is cool but not cold until the end of the month. The rain is much lighter than almost any other time of year, there is almost never snow either. The sun is obscured by the fog as well. It’s a beautiful time to see the natural scenery in this national park.

What to Wear in Zhangjiajie in November

1. Bring some layers: long trousers a few different shirts, and a jacket. The day may be nice for a t-shirt and trousers, but the night is certain to get colder. If you find yourself visiting in late November, it will certainly be on the colder side.

2. Decent walking/hiking boots. Boots with good traction, and hopefully water-resistant will do you good. It’s a great month to get outdoors, and you should be prepared for it.

3. Water protection and/or a rain jacket. Even though it’s one of the driest months in November (usually), it still rains 16 days out of the month. A light rain jacket should be fine.

November is finally low-tourist season. Most people are working, the holidays of early autumn are over, so there are far fewer crowds and other tourists to deal with. The weather might be a bit chilly for some people, but the misty fog and clouds make for great scenery.

It’s the low-tourist season! That means that everything is cheaper! Entry to the park, accommodation, amenities, food, everything. Prices go down as the locals deal with less tourism.

It’s foggy. You may have to hang out at some of the good places to see the sights, as you wait for the fog to let up. Usually, fog lasts until late morning and disappears between 11:00 and 14:00. The mountain peaks are gorgeous as the clouds lift.
