Poly Art Museum

Funded by China Poly Corporation, Poly Art Museum has been opened to the public upon the approval by China’s State Council since December 1999, and it’s the first art museum run by a large state-owned enterprise in China, which is highlighted by over 200 pieces of bronze wares, stone carvings and calligraphy, and painting works. Ploy Art Museum dedicates itself to carrying forward Chinese traditional culture and rescuing precious Chinese cultural relics that are scattered abroad.

Poly Art Museum has two theme halls, the Ancient Chinese Bronze Art Collection Exhibition Hall and the Ancient Chinese Stone Carvings & Buddhist Statues Art Collection Exhibition Hall.

Over 150 pieces of bronze ware are exhibited in the Ancient Chinese Bronze Art Collection Exhibition Hall, which spans from the Shang Dynasty (1600 B.C. -1046 B.C.) to the Tang Dynasty (618 -907), fully displaying the unique charm of the ancient Chinese bronze civilization. The exhibited bronze ware is of high aesthetic and historical value, which are highlighted by the Three-bull Mask Pattern Wine Cup of the Shang Dynasty (1600 B.C. -1046 B.C.) and Rong Sheng Bell Set of the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046 B.C.-771 B.C.).

More than 40 pieces of stone-carving Buddhist statues are well-retained in the Ancient Chinese Stone Carvings & Buddhist Statues Art Collection Exhibition Hall, which spans from the North Dynasties (386 -581) to the Tang Dynasty (618 -907), vividly emanating the glamour of Chinese ancient Buddhist art. A batch of Buddhist statues made in Qingzhou of Shandong Province is exhibited in the hall as well, including the statue of the fat laughing Buddha (Maitreya), the statue of Kwan-yin, the statue of Apsaras.

Poly Corporation purchased three precious pieces of bronze ware (the bullhead, the monkey head, and the tiger head) from overseas in May 2000, which were once plundered by the Eight Power Allied Force during the Second Opium War, receiving wide appraise of the Chinese people. Poly Corporation also organized an itinerant exhibition of the three pieces of bronze ware across Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Taiwan, attracting over four million visitors from all over the world in total.
